Important Dates in the Texas Property Tax Calendar

Some of the most important dates in the Property Tax Calendar are set out below. It’s important to stay on top of deadlines for any payments and protests to ensure you don’t receive penalties or miss out on the option to appeal your taxes. 

January 1 – Property values are assessed by district appraisal offices.

January 31 – Final date to pay last year’s property taxes before incurring late fees.

April 1 – Notices of Appraised Value are issued by appraisal districts.

April 15 – Business Personal Property Renditions must be filed by this date or penalties will be issued.

May 15 – Deadline for issuing a protest on your property taxes.

June 30 – Final date to pay the second half of last year’s property taxes if paying by split payment.

July 31 – Last date for property owners to apply for a September inventory appraisal for the next tax year.

October 1 – Tax bills are mailed on this day or soon after.

November 30 – First half of split payment for the current tax year is due on this date.
